Omo-Agege And The BVAS Brouhaha

  The Delta State Governorship election holds on Saturday, March 11, 2023, and one of the strong contenders is Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege. To taint the governorship hopeful for next Saturday’s election, a video online linking Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to kicking against the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) was in order. He was opposed to the introduction of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) because of technical glitches that would defeat the intended positive purpose of the system. We could all recall its first outing during a by-election in Delta State on September 10, 2021, when, according to reports, some presiding officers complained that the machine had difficulties capturing the thumbs and faces of some of the voters, especially the elderly. Police Confirm Pipeline Explosion In Rivers

  The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed an explosion of an oil pipeline at the Rumurkpe community in the Emuoha Local Government Area of Rivers State. A statement by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Grace Iringe-Koko, said that a preliminary investigation by the Police Command indicates that the victims were scooping crude product when the site caught fire. So far, about 12 persons are believed to have been burnt to death. The identities of the victims are still unknown. She further said that five vehicles, four Keke NAPEPs, and one motorcycle were all burned to ashes. Meanwhile, the Rivers State Commissioner of Police has again admonished members of the public to stay away from illegal oil bunkering and avail themselves of the following hotlines to report any incident or development they believe has the potential to lead to crime or breakdown of law and order: 08032003514, 08098880134.

NEMA in a statement signed by Mr. Manzo Ezekiel, Head of, the Press Unit, on Friday said that a team from KSrelief led by Mr. Basheer Saleem Al-Sharari disclosed this during a visit to the headquarters of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Abuja. Receiving the team, Director General NEMA Mustapha Habib Ahmed commended the humanitarian agency for the relief donation.
